Make Mistakes

Couple of weeks ago was the first lecture of this semester at the university where I work part-time as a lecturer. I really enjoyed teaching the class again, as I always love sharing knowledge.

Since it was the first session, I shared about the class preparation, things like attendance, tools, discussion, and how to create a safe space in the class.

At some point, I told my students,

Please make mistakes in this class. Don’t worry about being right or wrong, or asking the ‘right’ questions. This class is your laboratory where you can make mistakes and learn from them. You’ll learn better from your mistakes.”

I paused. And then I went..

“Actually, you can make mistakes out in the world too! Who says you have to always be right? Make mistakes, learn from them, fail repeatedly, and get back up.

It’s okay.”

I thought I’d share this with you too.

Many times in life we are so afraid of making mistakes, or making the wrong choices. But the truth is, we can never be 100% right, and I know if you look back at your life, you’ll see how often you’ve made mistakes (and learned from them). We might even feel grateful for all those mistakes and dark moments. I know I do.

I’m not saying we have to keep making mistakes, over and over again. I’m saying that when we aren’t afraid to make mistakes, we live more courageously, see more opportunities, and might even live beyond our wildest dreams. ❤️‍🔥

My wish you for you is that live your life courageously, and always, always be kind to yourself.

Remember, you are meant to thrive, not just survive.

And if you ever need my support, I’m here for you.

Have a wonderful week! ❤️

With love,
Inuk
