As a millennial growing up 90’s and early 00’s, mental health wasn’t a big topic then. I guess to some extend we kind of worked own way to it (am I right millennials? lol). My interest to personal development started in high school when I first read, “The 7th Habits for Highly Effective Teens” by Sean Covey ~ it literary changed my life.
However, another thing that I remembered the most is the power of music. I recently created a Spotify playlist where I mixed some of the music that uplift me growing up (and some from recent days) – helping me going through hard days and being more courageous in life.
I thought I share some of them with you.
Watch and sing it out! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! 🎵😁
Breakaway – Kelly Clarkson
I remember this song also from a scene from The Princess Diaries 2 when Princess Mia decided to break the royal protocol by walking with kids from the orphanage. I still cry every time I watch the movie at this scene (lol). It reminds me that sometimes I don’t have to follow rules to create a change in my life..
That’s The Way It Is – Celine Dion
Love can be hard sometimes. I love this song particularly because it reminds me not to give up on love, and it’s fun to sing too!
The Greatest Love Of All – Whitney Houston
This is song is all about self love. Sometimes we look for love and validation externally, forgetting that the greatest love of all is always within us. If you want to stretch your karaoke skill, this is definitely your song! 😁
This is me – Keala Settle (from the Greatest Showman)
I love this movie a lot! So much about accepting who you are and not afraid show it to the world. I got chills every time. So good!
BONUS: here’s the rehearsal video with Hugh Jackman. I got even more chill (and cry lol)
Want some more?
Check this out. Some more from my playlist..
- I Lived – One Republic (reminds me how far I’ve gone – I’d never look back)
- If I Ain’t Got You – Alicia Keys, Queen Charlotte orchestra (love this version with all women of colors orchestra!)
- Laskar Pelangi – Nidji (I’m a big dreamer, and this motivated to pursue my education abroad even without financial resources!)
So, what’s your go to song to uplift your spirit?
Share with me if you feel called. I want to hear yours!
My wish for you is that you dream big and have courage to manifest it into reality. You are meant to thrive, not just survive.
