Okay, real talk. I see myself as a very independent person. Always have been. My default setting is “I got this,” and I’m usually really good at handling things on my own.
But recently, life threw a few curveballs my way. I faced some challenges, especially around my finances and business, and let’s just say, there were moments that I started to question my “independence”. 😕
I finally did something that felt both terrifying and incredibly liberating: I asked for support. I reached out to my sister, and even shared my struggle to my amazing Project Maven community, and the response blew me away. They were all said yes, willing to help and support me.
It got me thinking… why is asking for help so damn hard? What holds us back? 🤔
Maybe it’s that fear of judgment, what will they think of me if I admit I’m struggling? Or maybe we don’t want to be a burden to someone else..
Perhaps it’s pride, or the belief that we should be able to handle everything ourselves. Maybe it’s even a fear of vulnerability, of letting people see us when we’re not at our strongest.
But here’s the truth, and it’s something I’m still learning myself…
It’s okay to ask for support.
It’s not a sign of weakness. It’s a sign of strength and self-awareness. 💙
Think about it. We readily offer help to our friends, family, and colleagues when they need it. We feel good doing it, right? We’re happier, more fulfilled.
When someone we care about asks for our support, we’re usually ready to do anything to help them. It’s human nature to want to connect and support each other.
And if you really pay attention to life, you’ll see it’s true. You often only get what you actually ask for. Opportunities, connections, even solutions to your problems… they often come when you’re brave enough to speak your needs.

So, my invitation for you this week…
If life feels challenging and heavy right now: ask for support.
Reach out to your friends, your family, your colleagues, your mentor, a coach, a therapist, your community – anyone you trust. Don’t be afraid to be vulnerable.
Pro tip: When you ask, make sure it comes from a place of love and openness. Express your gratitude in advance, and be clear about what kind of support you need.
Remember, you are meant to thrive, not just survive.
And if you ever need my support, I’m here for you.
Have a beautiful week! 🙏🏽

With love,
Inuk
