Longing for your past (or future)?

As I navigate this grieving season after losing my father a few weeks ago, I’ve been feeling a subtle, quiet grief from time to time. I feel “longing.”

It comes in small moments throughout the day, a deep feeling about what I long for: a life where my father is still here, his smile and kindness – all the good memories.

That longing can quickly turn into anxiety when I start looking at my own future, my dreams, and my visions. I start asking:

  • How can I even start moving on with my life?
  • How do I rebuild my energy and my work when my world feels so heavy right now?

My focus was on lack, the fear that I can never experience the joy of the past again, and can’t create the future I envisioned.. Both felt so far away.

The message was so simple, and it was exactly the gentle push I needed: instead of dwelling on the feeling of lack or not participating in those moments, simply send LOVE to my past and future,

This changes everything.

When I focus on sending love to my past, I’m honoring all the beautiful memories and the inner strength I’ve already built.

When I focus on sending love to my future, I trust that my dreams are still waiting for me, supported by the resilience I am building now.

It shifts the energy inside me from fear to trust. It allows for more self-compassion, too. I’m taking one day at a time..

I’m moving slower, but I am feeling more positive and slowly getting back on my feet again, not by ignoring the grief, but by embracing this new energetic approach.

If you are feeling that sense of longing or lack in any area of your life right now, whether it’s about a relationship, a career path, or just an easier time, I invite you to try this simple practice:

Pause, breathe, and send love to that part of your past and that part of your future.

You don’t need to have the answer today; you just need to send the love.

You are meant to thrive.

And if you ever need any support, I’m here for you. Always.

I’ve got your back.❤️

With love and gratitude,
Inuk

“The future starts today.”
