Eid, IKN and Leaving The Waiting Room

First of all, Happy Eid—Selamat Idul Fitri—to those of you who are celebrating. May this Eid bring you so much love, laughter, and endless blessings.

I’ve had a wonderful time celebrating with family and friends. It was crowded as always (lol), and we had the best food made by my mom!

My family and I are on a “surprise” trip to Balikpapan. We didn’t really plan it; all of a sudden, my sister asked if my mom and I wanted to join her and her family to visit Ibu Kota Nusantara—the new capital! I was like, “Hell YES!”

So here we are, a two-hour flight from Jakarta later, in Balikpapan. We plan to head to IKN this afternoon. Standing here, at the gateway to our nation’s future, has really made me think…

I realized that before I could step onto this new city, I had to do some “construction” of my own. 🥹

We often try to build a new era while still holding onto our past. We keep the “waiting room” open, hoping for a sign from people or events that no longer serve us—clinging to expectations that aren’t necessarily meant for us anymore.

This morning, I decided to take myself out of that waiting room. I deleted photos and conversations that tied me to it, but I’ve found that the trickiest part is clearing the mental space.

I’ve realized that life is often about having the courage to not just look toward the future, but to actually close the door on the past. It’s about accepting what was, being grateful for what is, and remaining hopeful for what’s next.

It’s easy to say, and I’m still learning every day. And that’s okay. I am enough, and let me tell you, you are enough.

Is there any area of your life where you feel like you’re still sitting in a “waiting room”—waiting for something or someone to change before you move on?

Maybe it’s time to leave that room. Maybe it’s time to just walk out.

My wish for you is that you can see things more clearly and find the courage to do what it takes to free yourself for the future you deserve.

You are meant to thrive.

And if you ever need my support, I’m here for you.

I’ve got your back.❤️

With love and gratitude,
Inuk
